Winter

If anyone were to ask me what my favorite time of the year is, i would choose winter. The cold winter days, sweaters, fireplaces and the anticipation of the holidays is what makes this season special to me.

The winter solstice occurs either December 21st or December 22 nd. This is the longest day of the year. The sun is at its greatest distance away from earth. Every year i look forward for the winter season. Even though most people dislike the winter and love the summer instead, I still enjoy it very much. When winter comes, i have to admit, the little child inside of me comes out. Snowball fights and the Christmas holiday make it so much more exciting. The smell of the winter meals being cooked fill the house with such an enticing aroma. I look forward to the winter season that will soon be approaching. The excitement and anticipation are inevitable as soon as the cold weather comes.

Red roses have appeared throughout history and across many cultures as political and religious symbols. However, it is as the symbol for love that the red rose is most commonly known for.

The red roses is a traditional symbol for love and romance. The modern red rose was introduced to Europe from China in the 1800's. The meanings associated with them can be traced back many centuries, even to some of the earliest societies. The color red is a symbol for life for deep emotion. In Greek and Roman mythology the red rose was associated to the goddess of love. Many early cultures used red roses to decorate marriage ceremonies and they were part of traditional wedding attire. The red rose became known as a symbol for love and fidelity. It continues to be the most popular way to say "I love you" Even though this beautiful flower has been around for centuries, the tradition of exchanging the rose as a gift of love ,still exists.

The Phantom of the Opera

The mystical tale of the musical masked menace is well known among millions of people. The Phantom of the Opera has enchanted many people over the last twenty years and still does to this day. The moving Broadway play has touched many hearts. The love triangle between the young, beautiful opera singer Christine Daae, her childhood sweetheart Vicomte Raoul de Chagny, and the irresistible Phantom of the Opera.
The Phantom was Christine's music mentor. She believes he's the angel of music promised to be sent by her father after he died. He was in fact her music teacher but that soon turned to love. Christine could not resist his voice. She went into a trance every time she heard him. He was disrupted by the Vicomte who was Christine's childhood sweetheart. They reunited and fell in love. The young love that sprouted between Christine and Raoul ,turned the Phantom into a jealous enraged mad man. He wanted nothing but Christine and did not stop until she was his. As the plot thickens the love triangle becomes more complicated. The Phantom went on a killing spree which frightened the young Christine. The Phantom was able to cease her and wanted her to belong to him. The Phantom tricked Christine by giving her two options. He told her if she chooses Raoul he will murder him and if she chooses the Phantom he will set Raoul free. She chose the Phantom to save Raoul from death. The Phantom loved her so much that he let her go.

This tragic tale is one that will always break your heart no matter how many times you have seen it. This is my favorite Broadway play and I hope this show enchants people for another twenty years.

The Twilight Series

The Twilight Series is composed of (so far) three books. Twilight, New Moon and Eclipse. The are about a teenage romance between a young girl named Bella Swan and her boyfriend Edward Cullen who is in fact a vampire. The story takes place in the gloomy town of Forks, Washignton. Bella is living with her father for the summer. Since it was only March when she arrived Bella had to finish the last few months of school. It was there that she met Edward Cullen. As you can assume its kind of hard for a human and a vampire to be in a relationship. Her life was constantly at risk and as the news of the new romance spread, unwanted enemies make an entrance into their lives. This fiction series is full of action and has a thrilling plot that intrigues both teens and adults. I love this series because it makes you believe in the mystical creatures that are only depicted in horror films. It's a story of love and devotion and also a fight to live. The author Stephenie Meyer has two more books coming out next year. Breaking Dawn and Midnight sun are the completion of the series.
