The Notebook

Nicholas Sparks is a very talented author. He wrote many popular books but the one that truly stood out to me was " The Notebook".

The book starts in a nursing home with Duke reading to an older woman, whose memory is slipping from her more and more everyday. Duke ( who is really Noah Calhoun) reads the story of two lovers who meet in the south at a carnival. Allie was 17. A city girl from money, and Noah was a country boy. The two spend the whole summer together but Allie is forced to move and go to college although she was willing to give it up for Noah. Noah writes Allie 365 letters and she never gets them. So he restores the house him and Allie went to one night out of 'labor of love'. Seven years pass and Allie meets and falls in love with a wealthy soldier Lon. When seeing Noah's picture in the paper, Allie is drawn back to him. They spent a few days together and she doesn't want to leave. Allie has to chose between her fiancé and Noah.

This novel has been made to a movie in 2004. It is very popular especially amongst young girls all around the world.

Romeo and Juliet

William Shakespeare wrote many wonderful and brilliant plays during his life. One play that he wrote has always been very special to me, ever since my seventh grade class and I read it it will always be my favorite. From age to age this classic story is as timeless as love itself.

The play is about a young love between Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet. Their families have a very strong rivalry but are unaware of there families backgrounds when they meet. They fall madly in love but they knew the love could not last. Romeo fled. Juliet had to think of a plan to be with Romeo agian. With the help of a friend, she took a special medication to make her seem dead but she really was not. When the news was recieved to Romeo he thought she really died and planned to kill himself. He went to her resting place and knelt beside her and took the deadly poison that took his life. As he drank it Juliet awakened to see him lying there lifeless. She took a knife and stabbed it through her heart.

This story has been known through out the ages as a tragic love story and very popular all around the world. Many movies have been made and the play has been performed at schools and theatres all around the world.

It is a beautiful play about love and tragedy and i will never forget the story of Juliet and her Romeo.
